Tailor made holidays: Miami Beach has 'cultural significance'
Families planning to book their tailor made holiday in Miami will find the city has much more to offer than sun, sea and sand, it has been claimed.
Lucinda Baring, travel correspondent for the Independent, recently visited the city and claimed that Miami Beach is in fact home to 800 art deco buildings.
She said: "Miami Beach is not without its own brand of cultural significance. No city in the world can boast as many art deco buildings in such a condensed area.
"The buildings contribute to Miami Beach's sense of exhilaration."
Famous architects such as Henry Hohauser and Frank Lloyd Wright laid the plans for many of the buildings constructed in the 1920s which still stand to this day.
Many of them were painted bright colours in the 1970s after they fell in to disrepair and this only adds to the overall appeal of the buildings and indeed the city itself.
Ms Baring added that holidaymakers should visit the area at night when the buildings "take on a more dazzling character" as they are illuminated.
