Luxury ski resorts: San Cassiano is 'perfect' for families

Britons looking for luxury ski resorts which are suitable for families should visit San Cassiano, according to a travel writer.

Fiona Hardcastle recently visited the resort, located in the Italian Dolomites, and was full of praise for the skiing area as visitors of all abilities can enjoy the runs on offer.

She wrote on the Independent website: "With its stunning rock faces and massifs rising like overblown cathedrals and framed by spires of pine trees and softer outlines of valleys below, many consider this Unesco heritage site in north-east Italy to be one of the most spectacular ski areas in the world.

"And with a wide selection of easy blue runs, it is perfect for families with young children."

Ms Hardcastle added that visitors to the St Hubertus restaurant at the Rosa Alpina hotel can enjoy an once-in-a-lifetime meal prepared by executive chef Norbert Niederkofler.

The former ski champion has developed a fine reputation for preparing luxury cuisine and guests will be able to enjoy delicacies such as foie gras and quail breast.
