Luxury family holidays: Visit the Erivikulam National Park in Kerala

Britons planning to go on luxury family holidays in Kerala should pay a visit to the the Erivikulam National Park, according to a travel writer.

Kate Weinberg, writing for the Telegraph, expressed her belief that nature lovers will enjoy wandering around the park to spot the various animals which reside there.

"One option is to go to the tropical Erivikulam National Park, just before the gates open," she said.

"This is the best time to see some of its 132 species of birds, which include endemics such as the black-and-orange flycatcher, the yellow-throated marten, the white-bellied shortwing and the Kerala laughing thrush."

Ms Weinberg added that Keralan cuisine is "one of the best in India", although consumers will have to be able to handle spicy food.

Furthermore, the nearby town of Kochi is an up-and-coming part of Kerala, she added, and is now home to a range of "stylish hotels and bohemian cafes".
