Tailor made holidays: Hong Kong is a 'city of contrasts'

Britons planning tailor made holidays in Hong Kong will discover it is a city of contrasts, it has been claimed.

Dawn Page, director of UK and Northern Europe for the Hong Kong Tourism Board, expressed her belief that holidaymakers will be able to relax during their stay if they find the right areas.

She said: "Hong Kong is a city of contrasts. I always tell people to get up early, stroll through Victoria Park and watch people starting their day with a Tai Chi session.

"It's so relaxing and a complete contrast to the usual bright lights and bustle of Hong Kong."

Ms Page added that a trip on the Star Ferry is also "a must" and advised passengers to sit on the bottom floor to see buildings on the side of the harbour lit up during the night.

Figures from STR Global shows that hotel room occupancy rates in the Asia/Pacific region rose by 8.9 per cent to 66 per cent in 2010, compared to the previous year.
