Tailor made holidays: Costa Rica full of 'chic' hotels

Tailor made holidays: Costa Rica full of chic hotels

Britons planning tailor made holidays in Costa Rica will be able to stay in chic hotels, according to a travel writer.

Andrew Fraser, writing for the Daily Express' travel website tripideas.co.uk, revealed that, despite the country having a traditional image due to its prevalent plant and wildlife, Costa Rica is home to a range of luxury hotels.

"Despite being only two thirds the size of Scotland, Costa Rica contains one twentieth of the world's total biodiversity within its borders," he said.

"At times this epic little country feels like Jurassic Park - which is apt because it was where the famous dino-disaster movie was set - although Costa Rica’s burgeoning bunch of chic boutique hotels are anything but Jurassic."

Mr Fraser added that adrenaline junkies will be well catered for during their stay, with guests able to zip-wire through the forests at Selvatura Park near Monteverde.

However, "the best activity of the lot" is water tubing down the Rio Negro river, according to the writer, where participants are carried down whirlpools and waterfalls in a rubber ring.
