Jordan 'a top luxury destination in 2012'

More people may be encouraged to take luxury holidays in Jordan, after a respected travel magazine highlighted the country as one of the best destinations for 2012.

Virtuoso Life magazine has suggested that despite being a small place, Jordan has much to attract travellers looking for a real luxury holiday experience.

Expert advisors at Virtuoso said people should look to explore the historical landmarks of Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea when they visit the Middle Eastern nation.

"It is a land of great beauty and even greater history, where medieval castles meet ancient ruins amongst a landscape of rolling hills, expansive deserts and dramatic mountains," a magazine representative stated.

The publication also suggested that Jordan is very easy to get around, which means all of its famous sights are readily accessible and travellers do not have to miss anything out.

Tourism chiefs recently advised visitors that some remote parts of the country are also well worth a visit - such as the coastal resort of Aqaba.
