Sri Lanka is a great destination for people planning to take a luxury honeymoon holiday, as it offers a perfect mix of historical culture alongside beautiful buildings and natural sights.

That is according to a travel journalist writing for Wanderlust, which is an online travel publication and holiday advice magazine. A travel journalist noted that the country is "an island of serendipity".

"History lives on in the steep, lushly forested hills. This is where you'll find the mighty rock-top fortress of Sigiriya and a cluster of historic towns, including Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa," they said.

One activity that people can take part in while visiting Sri Lanka is a luxury safari and see one of the country's most spectacular animals: the leopard.

"Sri Lanka's alpha predator is protected in a number of national parks, but is most easily sighted in Yala, on the island's southern coast, where you can cool off in the ocean after a day on safari," the writer noted.
