St Anton offers world class freeride skiing

There are many destinations in Europe where families can enjoy luxury skiing holidays but few can match the excitement and adrenaline rush offered by Austria's St Anton resort.

According to ski instructor and blogger Robert Stewart, the Austrian resort is "legendary" among the snow sports community for its wide range of powder snow types and facilities and entertainment off the slopes.

"An action packed time is guaranteed … St Anton is a place that knows how to have a good time," he says in a post for the Extreme Sports Trader blog.

There is an abundance of luxury ski chalet options in St Anton, meaning that families can relax in luxurious surroundings after pitting their wits against the slopes.

Many of these are ideally located for access to the area's 40 km of cross-country trails, as well as for the St Anton snowboarding parks and facilities for tennis, paragliding, swimming and children's activities.

Those travelling with young children would be well advised to book luxury chalets that are within easy reach of transport to the Pettneu ski region, which features a special area for children and 15 km of slopes ideal for both beginners and more experienced skiers.
