Switzerland voted best destination for ski holidays

Switzerland could be the ideal place to visit for those searching for the very best luxury ski holidays.

According to a recent poll by travel social network WAYN.com, travellers from around the world rank the landlocked European nation above all other skiing destinations in terms of the quality of its slopes.

Switzerland beat off competition from countries such as Austria, France, Canada and the US to win the vote, which saw more than 1,300 holidaymakers choose their favourite ski holiday locations.

The survey also suggested that more and more nations that are not traditionally associated with skiing are becoming increasingly popular among winter sports aficionados, with destinations such as New Zealand just missing out on a top ten spot.

Skiing was found to be the most enjoyed aspect of ski holidays among the travellers polled, with scenery and apres-ski activities coming second and third respectively.

Some of the most popular luxury ski resorts in Switzerland include Zermatt and St Moritz.
