Ski expert: Whistler is big news in the skiing world
While Europe is closer, Canada is emerging as a popular destination for luxury ski holidays, with Whistler in particular a resort worth exploring.
That is the view of Graham Bell, former Olympic skier and presenter of BBC2's Ski Sunday, who wrote in a special piece for the Metro that many people are keen to discover new luxury ski resorts.
As well as Whistler, the resort of Revelstoke – which is also located in British Columbia – is attracting ski fans young and old.
In addition, today's skiing enthusiasts are demanding more from their holidays, with all-inclusive experiences becoming increasingly popular in recent years.
"The numbers of people going skiing hasn't decreased but the type of holiday has changed. Ski fans will always find a way to the mountain," Mr Bell said.
Matt Guarente, from SkiBeginner.com, wrote for HitTheSlopes.co.uk recently that learning to ski is immense fun and that all that is required is perseverance and enthusiasm.
