Luxury ski resorts: Zermatt boasts two of the world's best slope-side restaurants

One of the beauties of staying in luxury catered chalets is the fact that guests can look forward to food of the highest quality after they have finished on the slopes - however, that does not mean they should not go out and explore the culinary culture of their resort.

Andrew Purvis, writing for the Daily Telegraph, said many of Europe's luxury ski resorts boast wonderful eateries serving up cuisine which is tasty, innovative and exciting.

Chez Vrony in Zermatt is one such place, while the Swiss resort has another fine dining establishment which is definitely worth a visit.

Zum See, which is run by husband and wife team Max and Greti Henning, boasts a mouth-watering array of dishes.

"Max's Mediterranean fish soup - something you don't expect up a snowy mountain - is a gourmet treat as a starter or a main," Mr Purvis added.

Other highlights on the menu include filet of lamb Provencale with potato gratin or rosti and glazed corn-fed chicken breast on vegetables with gratin.
